Thinking about moving to an independent site

... and off Blogger - probably a move that is long overdue. I'd use Wordpress, and probably the same host as I have My London Your London on - since it seems OK - BlueHost.com. But anyone have any tips about the process of making the move? All help gratefully received ...

Skuds has recently moved from a .blogspot address to his own server on WordPress - see here, here, here and here for how he found things.

Good luck with the move!

Switching to WordPress is one of best blogging decisions I've ever made. Plus, importing Blogger posts (and comments) from a Blogger acount into your new WordPress blog is simple, painless, and relatively screw-up free.

Nothing against Blogger, but I have found Wordpress to be fun.

Do make sure your host had the CUTL extensions to PHP enabled before you start. (see the links Jo gave for details)

If you want to ask any questions drop me a line while its all still fresh in my mind.

I have had Yahoo webhosting for years. Their "free" website builder "Sitebuilder" (how unoriginal LOL) is a horror,
BUT they do have a good price for getting a new domain ($2.99) and they have an extremely simple Wordpress (which is free) installation. I tested it with my webhosting and it is a one-step process. I've been tempted to try Wordpress for some time (just hate learning another platform)

Yahoo webhosting is very reliable though, and the file manager is simple to understand.

I belong to the Writers Blog Alliance, and our fearless leader Deborah has just switched to Wordpress, and is offering "Beginner" help to anyone interested.

Best wishes to you!
